Detached houses with many doors
Unlike rowhouse neighborhoods, many homes here are detached, with front, side, rear and garage doors, plus French doors to a patio. Over the years they collect a ring of different keys. Keying them alike is the most common request, along with upgrading French-door hardware that relies on a single flimsy latch.
Garages and side doors
Detached and tuck-under garages often have a pedestrian door with a knob lock only. If tools, bikes or a second fridge live there, a deadbolt is worth adding. The door from an attached garage into the house deserves one too.
Apartment buildings on Connecticut Avenue
Along Connecticut and Wisconsin Avenues, large pre-war and mid-century apartment buildings house many residents. Unit locks are often old mortise sets; the building controls lobby and service entrances.
American University's campus is in 20016; campus buildings go through the university, while nearby rentals call us directly.

Homes near Rock Creek Park and the wooded streets west of Connecticut Avenue sometimes back onto parkland. Rear gates and basement doors there are easy to forget when you rekey; list every door when you book.
The old 20015 and 20016 pages now point to this hub.
Woodley Park and Cleveland Park have many large porch houses that were once divided into apartments and later turned back into single homes. Leftover unit locks on interior doors often have no keys at all; a locksmith can open, rekey or remove them while visiting for other work.
